LOGAN OF LOCKWOOD

logan (6)

Sales Price: $12000 $6000!! *  Stud Service: $500

Logan had his first cria on June 27, 2008.  Stella Blues has recently sold, but Logan has many other Cria on the ground now.
Logan is a 3X blue ribbon-winner - he won a blue ribbon in the dark composite class at MaPaca 2004, when he was only 6 months old and the only black alpaca in the group. His fiber was judged the best by Mike Safley and Jude Anderson, and his outstanding conformation and movement placed him first in the ring too. He won his second blue ribbon in full fleece halter at the VA State Fair, and his third in the 2006 Virginia Classic SpinOff, with a score of 93/100! Logan has black ancestors on both sides of his pedigree : 2 black grandparents, one a maroon and one a dark fawn son of Accoyo Leon.
His award-winning maroon sire, Romeo inherited incredibly soft-handled fiber from his sire, Acero Marka's Evarado, a true black Bolivian import whose offspring are consistent show winners. Romeo has dramatic maroon, almost purple coloring, plus excellent staple length and started his breeding career at only 20 months of age.
Logan's dam, Sabrina has inherited her half-accoyo, blue ribbon-winning sire's gorgeous typey huacaya head, his incredible staple length, density and heavy bone. Sabrina's dark color genetics and phenomenal density come from her black Chilean dam, whose heritage is all black and grey. Sabrina's dense fleece took a third place at the highly competitive 2001 EVAA show, and her staple length is so exceptional that Maggie Krieger could hardly believe the fiber came from a juvenile! Logan has wonderful density, bold crimp, handle like velvet and very good brightness and consistency. His conformation is excellent, his bite is perfect.

Awards Received
- First place MaPaca 2004, "the largest alpaca event on the planet, ever", in the composite class, where fiber and conformation are judged separately, then the scores combined for final placement. Logan placed 1st in both categories and was the youngest alpaca and the only black in the class.
- First place at the VA State Fair 2004 in a full fleece halter class of juvenile black males.
- Fourth place in a class of 12 black yearling males at the 2005 Virginia Classic - Logan's testosterone was kicking in, so he didn't show well that weekend!!
- Blue ribbon in the 2006 Virginia Classic Spin-off, with a score of 93/100 for his yearling fleece.

LINEAGE:

Sabrina

DAM: River Rock’s Sabrina
Dark Brown, 824001, ½ Chilean, ½ Peruvian
She inherited the fiber quality, growth rate and character of her Peruvian sire, NWA, Ltd Leo, and her grandsire, Accoyo Peruvian Leon. She is the richest dark chocolate or coffee color you have ever seen and has a calm, gentle and steady personality. Her dam is a true black Chilean, with great density and sheen, an attractive presence and compact body style.
Awards Received:
Sabrina's dense fleece took a third place at the highly competitive 2001 EVAA show, although her staple length is so exceptional that Maggie Krieger had difficulty believing the fiber came from a juvenile!

Romeo

SIRE:  River Rock’s Romeo
Dark Brown , 824003
1/2 Bolivian, 1/2 Chilean
This award-winning, proven, half-Bolivian herdsire is the rare color of maroon with black points, has excellent conformation, great staple length and handle like velvet. His bite is perfect (never been trimmed), his bloodlines are rare, particularly on the east coast and he is proven to produce award-winning, colored offspring.

Awards Received:
Maggie Krieger placed Romeo's fleece second in the 6-12 month dark category at the highly competitive EVAA show in 2001. He was awarded a second place ribbon out of all the shorn dark males at the 2002 MaPaca Jubilee by Carolyn Blalock, with over 1400 alpacas in the show.

Here are some of Logan’s crias.  He has produced some wonderful, greys, browns & blacks
